20 Seconds is a straightforward application designed for a singular purpose: counting down to 20 seconds.
One might wonder, why 20 seconds? According to a prevalent theory, this timeframe is deemed sufficient for fostering new habits or breaking existing ones.
For fostering good habits, initiating an action within the first 20 seconds of contemplating it significantly increases the likelihood of follow-through. Delaying beyond this timeframe diminishes the probability of execution.
Conversely, in the pursuit of breaking a detrimental habit, delaying for 20 seconds post-urge diminishes the chances of succumbing to it.
Hence, when faced with an urge to engage in an unwanted activity, launching the 20 Seconds app and allowing it to count down can provide insight into the persistent urge post-20 seconds.
During the countdown, the app offers a progress indicator (accompanied by optional random shapes), music playback, or ticking sounds aimed at providing distraction and entertainment. The countdown can begin automatically upon launch. Additionally, a 30-day trial period is available within the widget for daily usage tracking.
